Keep Off The Dunes

The sand dunes provide a buffer between the ocean and land. They protect the coast from both flooding and erosion. Sea grass has deep intertwined roots that help create a barrier that can prevent eroding during severe storms. However, walking or playing on the dunes can cause damage to vegetation, especially to the grass which is very brittle and which dies if broken.

Maintaining the integrity of the dunes, simply by staying off them—and by reminding your guests, renters and friends about how important the dunes are—is of critical importance as we await for the FIMI project to restore the beach.
